Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting is not actually a Parish Council meeting. Every parish must, each year, hold a Parish Meeting between 1 March and 1 June. If present, the Chair of the Parish Council, or Vice-Chair if the former is unable to attend, must preside. If both are unavailable then a Chair is elected by the meeting itself. The agenda enables reports on the business of the last 12 months to be given - by the Parish Council plus, usually, the County and District Councillors. Local voluntary and community groups are also encouraged to address the meeting to detail their activities during the previous year. It is a great opportunity for residents to question people and organisations on any issues relating to the village.

As the Annual Parish Meeting is not a Parish Council meeting it is neither conducted in the same way nor governed by the same rules. As such, any resolutions which may be passed do not bind the Parish Council.
